Art Show Opening at La Luz De Jesus on Aug. 3rd

Off to the juried group show in Hollywood at La Luz De Jesus gallery

A nice day for a drive to L.A., this was taken in Los Alamos, California

Hello Hollywood

Back to the Downtowner motel- "It's like a crime scene, but you sleep there".

Room 7 "Kills" it:
"Kitchen, cold storage, kill room"-Meg
Lavish art on the walls & 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets
Entertainment center centrally located in room
Sumptuous bathroom facilities-"It's the little things, the artful attention to the details, the door frames for example; intricately painted to look well worn"! Say what you will, we keep coming back here. It's a great location and the price is right...breakfast is included. You can make your own waffles, did you hear me? MAKE YOUR OWN WAFFLES!

Waiting for a cab to take me to the opening

I don't have any photos from the opening but some can be found HERE which is Lee Joseph's flickr site (He does publicity and his site can be found HERE).
These were taken the next day.

I didn't get good photos of Click Mort's or Byung Min's work. Everyone's work can be seen in detail HERE on La Luz De Jesus's website.
The front gallery was showing Jose Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros "Disasterland", all his work can be seen HERE.

Late night dinner next door after the show

Around the motel neighborhood:

I think this image needs more cowbell

  A walk down Hollywood Blvd.

A stop at the Museum of Death for the tour...delightful!

Super groovy door

A huge presence on the boulevard in case anyone wants to join the cult (a hearty "Nanu nanu" to all you thetans out there):

"Come in for the tour" just don't wind up on their cruise ship the Freewinds.

"Diaretics changed my life"-Repo Man

Abel Wood's star from "Lust in the Dust":

Lunch stop

Grauman's Chinese Theatre

On the way back to the motel an Andre the Giant sighting

Then it was up to Barnsdall Art Park to take in some views.

Looking toward the next destination, Griffith Park.

Griffith Park Observatory

More paste-ups near the motel

and a sidewalk stencil

Next day it was off to Forever Hollywood Cemetery

View out the front driveway

A beautiful final ride

I can't help thinking of "Beneath the Planet of the Apes" when I see this.

The window in the above mausoleum

Architectural details of the above crypt

Lots of nice stained glass

Douglas Fairbanks & Douglas Fairbanks Jr.'s monument

Beautiful mosaic (next 3 images)
