"Burning Optimism" Show opening Jan. 5th 2018

Had a show up at La Luz De Jesus this January.
.
Here's some of the work sitting on our kitchen table before it was packed up and taken to the gallery.

Also had this neon piece that changes colors in the show

After the opening...
...a drink, or two.

Then off to Tiki Ti's for one of Mike's devastatingly delicious "Milky way" cocktails.

Valerie Pobjoy is also showing at the gallery
She has an old world painting style with contemporary topics as her subject matter.

Scott Rohfs was the other artist showing.
All the work can be seen HERE at the galleries website.

Next day it was off to High Voltage tattoo to retrieve some things.

A Visit

We rarely meet with other artist or collectors. Sheldon and Steve came by and picked up some things. It was great to get together and talk art-going to have to make a bigger effort to do this more often. Sheldon has kindly provided a home for "Incubator" and several other art pieces. Can't thank them enough for coming by.

They picked up the Cat House of Cards and now Party and Archie have their own domicile.
Thanks for the visit, Sheldon and Steve, we really enjoyed it.

Detail on the above piece

After Thursday's artist meet and greet it was off to the Good Luck Bar

Friday we went to visit Peter Shire's Echo Park Pottery production facility where his wife Donna took us on a tour. Peter was the only American to be invited by Ettore Sotsass to join the Italian design group Memphis. He designs and fabricates furniture as well. Peter also produces sculptures for public spaces, some of which can be seen in progress here.

Peter is Billy's brother, Billy owns the La Luz De Jesus Gallery where the show is.

Seen on a wall along Sunset Blvd.

After the public opening on Friday we headed to Tiki Ti for a mixed drink. These bar tenders are NOT messing around. Allie had a "Milky Way" and it could have possibly been the best drink I have ever tasted.

Seen on the way to the Dresden for drinks...
