La Luz de Jesus Laluzapalooza Art Show 2013

A little break from driving to look at the Pacific, looking west.
Looking south
A lovely view from the 101 freeway as you drop into town
K Von D's place on La Brea in Hollywood
A little Thai food for dinner at Rodded Restaurant, 5623 Hollywood Blvd.
And our third stay at the "Downtowner Motel" on Hollywood Blvd.

Don't even think about litigation...
We prefer the back of the motel as it's quieter.
We're in the lap of luxury now!
The view out the back:                                            And instead of a bible you get this (which is a nice touch):
The owners told us they have been approached by the "Hotel Hell" production about having this place on the show. They're not sure the affiliation would be good for their business. Despite the short-comings of the accommodations it is actually affordable for the area, not to mention the close proximity to the "Blue Monkey" nightclub.

Time to go to the opening at La Luz de Jesus Gallery. The show is March 1st-31st
Van Saro "Forgive Me, For I Have Sinned"

Jaesun Kim with her piece "Pawmaker: Fox and Rabbit"
Sean Stepanoff and his pen and ink work
"Billy Shire" by Sean
David Batalon's oil painting "Last Chance" will be coming to live with us after the show ends.
Anthony Purcell acrylic "Cosmic Armadillo"

 Howard Hallis "198 Memes"

The list of artists and a link to all the art can be found HERE

Off to the Blue Monkey for Reggae night and cocktails after the show closed (this photo is from earlier in the day)
Got our "Sure taste GREAT" drink faces on.
Not much light for the video below, but I'm quite sure we were having a good time

Butch slinging the "Breaks" and bruising our livers
Back to the "DT" for some sleep (between sirens)
That's it for tonight's adventures (it only occurs to me now, but that's a damn good Leona Helmsley "Welcome to the Helmsley Plaza Hotel" impression below!)

Back to La Luz Gallery for some bizz and socializing before we hit the road home. Here's some shots of what's in the hallway gallery from this past year's shows. Such a large collection of so many different mediums, techniques and styles, it's really great to see this huge of a variety of art in one spot.
Billy Shire and Matt Kennedy offer up so much here you can literally spend a couple of days looking at just the art alone, it's impressive.

And homeward bound went we.
Want to stop in Solvang? Ya, sure, ya betcha...
Looking for the American embassy...
What time is it? Time for a danish.
Back to the road, northward.
Want to check out the danishes?
Opps, too late, we ate them all.
The cats are pleased we're back to serve their every need and whim
