Opening Night for "Laluzapoolza" Art Show in Hollywood (Friday, March 2, 2012)

Hello L. A.

La Luz de Jesus Gallery on Hollywood Blvd.

Lunch at Frank Loyd Wright's first Los Angeles project, Hollyhock House at Barnsdall Park (click to enlarge)

Views from the park (Hollywood sign & Griffith Observatory in the distance)

The motel sign looked great...

The motel and neighborhood looked good enough during the day...
It had a pool in the courtyard, so Melrose Place, right?...
The rooms had balconies...
The price was right so we booked it. You go into the room and this is what it looked like...
Notice the exact same framed poster over each bed (click to enlarge)
Looks like a cocktail was thrown at the wall by the closet.
...oh no, a suicide hotel.

Then it was off to the art show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery

Church hurts!

Post show drink time. Half a block away from the motel, The Blu Monkey Bar & Lounge. Nice and dark, the way it should be when you're having a "Break" (Break = Stoly Orange, soda water & a wedge of citrus, preferably orange). Here's the yelp page for those that care-all we can say is, we had a great time there, we plan on coming back, so check it out. UPDATE: Sad to say The Blu Monkey is now CLOSED.

The entrance taken during the day:

The next day we walked around Hollywood Boulevard and took photos.
